About Local 798

Thank you for reading this and getting to know who we are and what we are about.  Yes we are Union, and we are VERY PROUD. And yes, we do cost more. Union members are not the only ones that benefit from our higher pay scale, insurance, and pension benefits. Hospitals and doctors are paid properly; they have funds to purchase better equipment, thus giving your communities better ways to treat their patients. Merchants in the communities also benefit. Union members help stimulate the economy as good as or better than anyone.

With hundreds of thousands of workers in America from foreign countries who are working with Green Cards and under work Visa programs, very little of that money stays here in the US.

Our retirees get a pension check every month, so they are not a burden on society. They are able to pay their bills and purchase things they need.  We fight for workers’ rights, and we also believe in a good day’s work for a day’s pay.  We like to do it right the first time!

We invested a lot of money into a high-tech training center to create good union craftsman to work on our nation’s pipeline infrastructure. We are very conscious of buying American made products, which gives other working Americans a chance to better themselves.

The wives of our members formed a ladies’ auxiliary 4 short years ago, and to date have raised over $150,000.00 to be donated to charities. They built a memorial wall to honor our fallen Brother and Sister members.

Why shouldn’t our country’s leaders promote organizations that give so much back to our great country?  Does corporate America not see that if we build their product, that we would have the money to purchase their product?  Still, they tell America Unions are the reason you are paying these high prices, but only 7% of the cost of an automobile is attributed to labor.  Think about how many people benefit from that 7%.  What we do hope to accomplish is that people stand up and defend the American working men and women, by saying yes, they cost a little more but these people stood up for minimum wage, over time pay, a safer work place, and decent working conditions & wages.  We too would like to live the American dream and help restore something America has lost - pride and integrity.

“For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of strength, love and self-control.”
